He had to let out a groan as his landing in the strange world was not one of the best he had performed—actually, it was the only landing he had ever done and he ended up right smack in a pond that drenched his clothes and soaked him from head to toe. Garret was surely able to swim well enough and it was more of a nuisance, but he could feel the burn mark on his back from where he hit the water too hard. When he pulled himself onto shore and kicked off his boots and socks, he dug around in his pocket for the item that had appeared in his hands mere moments before he hit the water. It was round and covered in light purple and dark purple marks and looked so strange to him—he had never before seen something like it! And it was glowing. Like a laser pointer, if he moved his hands in front of the glowing light, it was blocked, but when he moved it around, it always pointed in one direction. All he had to do was, obviously, follow it.

But the world was so weird to him. The sky was a brilliant blue and the grass was the normal color he had grown up with, but things were different and strange. What looked like little pieces of data rose up from the ground at his feet and disappeared, blinking into the sky. Garret scowled in confusion and stood up, wiggling his toes in the cool grass. People back at home thought he was rather quiet and dull, but in reality, he often thought more than spoke. And quiet people tend to observe more, which he was doing. Why was he in that world? Why did he have this strange thing that glowed?

All questions aside, Garret knelt down and flipped his shoes out to empty them of water. His brown turtleneck was sopping wet and so were his khakis, but he could suck it up and walk with those clinging to his body over soggy socks that got under his toenails and caused him to shudder with every step.

Garret flicked his head to the side to get dripping hair out of his eyes. With boots and socks in tow under his arm, he went off following the light in his hand, for he knew that it led to something. If it led to danger—so be it. If it led to friends—that was even better. Hopefully it would lead him to somewhere with civilization and a map so he could figure out where he was. This world was definitely not completely natural, for he had never seen some of the birds in the trees, and armadillos did not reside in forested areas. In fact, it seemed that there was a completely random plethora of animals in the area that made no sense.

“Where am I?” he breathed quietly, looking up and around at the canopy of leaves that blocked the sun. Light filtered down in a heavenly way and dappled the dark green grass; water pooled up in little puddles here and there and different animals were gathering nearby to drink. They were all small and rather adorable and seemed to not be a threat to him, which, he assumed, was great. Fluffy little rabbits and onions and--

His eyes grew wide. “/Onion/?” He narrowed his eyes now and stooped down, staring at the animals intently. They were small and pink with little flowers atop their heads and they ate ravenously at the apples that had fallen from the trees. Garret looked at his little device and it was pointing straight at them; it was also going past them when he decided to point it up and he let out a quiet, breathy sigh. Looks like he would have to go around them if he wanted to get by.

Now he knew he was not in the right place, for what kind of onion plant resided on earth, hm? Onions were alive, all plants were, but not in this sense!

It was slightly panicking. Had he not been taught as a child to examine his surroundings and think rather than fall into a pit of confusion, he would not have made it this far. In fact, Garret would have most certainly refused to leave the shore of the lake, ensuring that he received no adventure and—probably now that he was supposedly stuck here—no friends. But he thought and he looked around and no one currently looked dangerous.

Quietly as he could, and as naturally as he could, he strolled past the group of strange animals and pointed his light up, dodging around a tree. Suddenly he came face to face with a bright white creature that hit him so hard they both went tumbling to the ground. It flopped off his head and flew into the air, snapping at him to watch where he was going.

“I’m sorry.”

“Oi, I don’t understand ya!” The white creature puffed out its cheeks. He was a cute one, with little golden wings, wide gold eyes, and a curly hair tuft atop his head that tapered off to a point. Short and squat, too, with a grin that could make any cute creature jealous. “Something wrong with you? Sounds like you’re choking.”

Garret’s brow furrowed and he scooted back on his bottom, bumping into the crowd of animals that were chowing away at the fruit. They let out screeches and pounced him and swarmed him, biting into his arms and feet and even his nose and ears. Stunned, the white animal shot forward and let out a cry, throwing them off of Garret as fast as he could.

“Go away, fiends!” he snapped, throwing a piece of fruit he had been gnawing on before he smacked into Garret. He wrinkled his nose and looked down at the ginger teen, tipping his head to the side to give him a curious look. “But no, really, I don’t understand you.”

There was no time to talk to him. Garret had to make sure there were no bleeding cuts or bite marks on his skin, and when he assured himself there was not, he looked up and let out a huff through his nose. “You can understand me just fine, I think, if I can understand you!” He rolled his eyes and stood up, brushing soggy pieces of grass off his clothes. As he rambled on, the white animal floated toward him, his golden eyes staring into Garret’s deep brown eyes.

Minutes passed until they both looked away and rubbed their dry and now watering eyes.

“You can understand me, I know you can!” Garret said, feeling desperate, wanting to communicate with the animal. “We’re in Berlin, aren’t we? You have to speak German, too!”

All it did was give him a wide-eyed, blank look.

Garret cleared his throat and switched from his native German language to English. He spoke it pretty well, but there were some things he often messed up. “What is you?”

It jerked back, stunned. “Who am I?” he asked, shooting forward to press his face against Garret’s nose. “I am Cupimon! I’m a Heavenly Digimon, heh.”

Fingers wrapped around his little head and pulled him away. He squirmed in Garret’s grasp and flailed his little feet and gripped his fingers with his light maroon claws; the boy’s grip was too tight on him and he could not escape, and when he felt it was all over and done with, he hung there limp and disgruntled.

“What is a Digimon?” Garret asked quickly. “What ist a Cupimon? What is this?”

Grabbing Cupimon’s hair tuft with his hand, he reached down with his other and pulled the device out of his pocket. The line shot right to the middle of Cupimon’s forehead and expanded, running up and down Cupimon’s body in a grid-like pattern, as if scanning him. Cupimon stopped freaking out and gave Garret yet another wide-eyed stare, his heart beating in time with Garret’s. There was something special about this ‘Digimon’ Garret figured, but he was quite unsure what it was seeing as he literally had no idea /who/ or /what/ a Cupimon was!

Disgruntled, Garrent dropped Cupimon and looked down at the screen, seeing it flash to life. The ‘Digimon’ in question floated up, rubbing the top of his head, and took residence on Garret’s shoulder. “Ouch, you didn’t have to grab me like that! I have feelings too!” He patted his own cheeks and then puffed them out, digging his claws into Garret’s hair to keep a firm grip on him. “Anyway, yeah, you’re in the Digital World!”

“What the /hell/ is a Digital World?” Garret demanded, his accent thick.

Cupimon gave him a little grin and covered his mouth mischievously with one paw. “Everything here is Digital,” he said. “That’s kind of all I really know. I’ve actually been looking for you! You are my partner!”

Again Garret gave him a confused and disgruntled look.

“Hey, man, I don’t know. Just go with it—you’re my partner, I’m YOUR partner, just go with it.” His wings fluttered and he lifted into the air, a rather pretty sight among all the trees and such. “I’ve been searching forever! And maybe if we find a higher up Digimon they can tell you about the world! I mean I’ve kind of only just hatched…”

And by then, he stopped listening to the Digimon and fiddled with his boots. Cupimon just went on and on, floating in circles around his head. As much as he thought the Digimon was cute and adorable, he was rather annoying, talking nonstop and explaining the Digimon nursery that he had hatched from. Apparently a bunch of Digimon hatched at the same time and were out looking for their ‘partners’ and had all separated right there and then. Garret rolled his eyes as Cupimon shouted about having been friends with this really cute Patamon that had ‘evolved’ on the spot due to such joy at being able to find her partner.

Garret started to notice a theme with this ‘partner’ thing. If he had to be stuck with Cupimon, so be it, just as long as he would learn to shut his mouth! There were only so many voices and sounds he could listen to without being driven insane, and those were the sounds of the forests, oceans, and people with pretty voices. This little thing had a heavenly voice, yes, but he it was rushed and when it was rushed, it sounded garbled and strange.

“You know I thought this was going to lead me to a city,” Garret grumbled, smacking the side of his Digivice. It let out a quiet squeal and died down. Even the light on the screen went dim and Cupimon gave him a rather unimpressed look.

“Those things are kind of alive, you know.” He pulled it away from Garret and held it up to the light. “Some of them got a liiitle more power than the others and some have a mind of their own.” Even he gave a look that said he did not know what was going on. “But, whatever. There’s a city right nearby! It’ll take like an hour to get to, come on!”

He grabbed Garret’s sopping turtleneck sleeve and tugged on it, throwing the device back at him. In a speedy move he grabbed it and shoved it in his pocket, knowing full well by now that the thing was freaking waterproof. He yanked his hand away, though, and ran back for his boots and socks, following behind Cupimon as he went off on a flurry about his adventures in finding Garret.

Yeah I'm /super/ sorry this is so freaking short! I have priorities in PMDE and completely forgot about this event until something was said. Hopefully I'll have my PMDE stuff done by the next event and I can write something /really/ good for you all!

plus it's really hard getting used to a new character heh

Well that was certainly an interesting start. Having there be a language barrier between the human and the digimon isn't something I think I've seen before.

keep at it! :)
